What is SVLK Timber Legality Verification ?

Our furniture is made from timber sourced from Indonesia which are produced from legally harvested and sourced wood. Verification under the Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System, INDO-TLAS/Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu (SVLK) does just that. This verification is designed to provide credible proof of due diligence compliance.
Certifiers of forestry practices include leading third-party consultants, that lower the risk of inadvertent violations of the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR), the US Lacey Act, Australia’s Illegal Logging Prohibition, and other timber legality regulations. SVLK verification is required by Indonesian law for all wood product exporters from Indonesia.
The certification process involves a series of submitted documents, an on-site visit by an approved auditor to review working conditions and procedures, and a finalised report that includes certification decision.
The SVLK Certificate is recognised by the Australian Government as verification and due diligence in accordance with the Illegal Logging Prohibition Act 2012 and the Illegal Logging Prohibition Regulation 2012.

Once acquired, the SVLK certification is valid for three years with annual surveillance audits by the auditors to ensure compliance is maintained.
