Even though our furniture uses recycled teak, and no new trees were used in the making our furniture, we strongly believe in the principle of replenishing what was once taken from the natural world. That's why we are proud to support the Trees4Trees initiative. This reforestation project, started in 2007, is dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment and communities in Indonesia.
For every tree we use, we make sure to plant one more. This not only helps to offset CO2 in the atmosphere, but also ensures that the forests remain a sustainable source of timber and a habitat for precious flora and fauna. To date, Trees4Trees has successfully planted over 3 million trees and has positively impacted the lives of over 20,000 families.
But Trees4Trees is not just about reforestation. It also allows us to give back to the communities in Indonesia. Through education and community building programs, Trees4Trees provides economic and social benefits to the farmers and their families who work and live on the land.
When you purchase a piece from ReTeka, it comes with a unique World Identification Number (WIN). This code allows you to locate the exact GPS location of the replacement tree that have been planted and nurtured to maturity. By entering the number into our tree locator, you can see the precise location of the tree we have planted to replace the timber used for your furniture, as well as the name of the farmer who planted them.
